Tips for PSLE Maths Revision

PSLE mathematics is a combination of so many other skills apart from mathematical skills. 

PSLE math exam is all about students being able to manage their time, focus on their strengths, avoid careless mistakes, and how they handle stress. Here are some tips for you! 

PSLE Time Management Tips

The PSLE Maths paper examination consists of 2 written papers that will take 2 hours 30 mins to complete. 

The information table below that would give you a good guide on the amount of time your child should spend completing the various questions:

For a 5-mark question in Paper 2, you should attempt your question around or under 8 minutes, bearing in mind you have to read the question, re-read any confusing sentences, plan your strategy, write down your solutions and finally double-check your calculations.

Tip 1:

Set a target of maximum 1 minute per mark.
Eg. For Paper 1 of 45 marks, target to finish your paper within 45 minutes. You will then have remaining 15 minutes to make sure every question was attempted, every MCQ answer was transferred and shaded correctly, and double- or triple-checking all calculations.

Tip 2:

You may also consider to skip challenging question that you can't solve first and come back to it later.

Practise these tips before exams!
- Attempt a full paper under exam conditions and complete it within the time limit.
- Sleep early the night before so your mind will be fresh for exam.
- Go for toilet break right before examination, avoid taking breaks once the paper has started.
